Hi group!

I just got a 2003 4Runner Sport V8 with a lot of extras and with only 16k on it, in mint shape! :::knock on wood:::

It did not, however, come with an owners manual, and the only one on Ebay is $50+ shipping!! RIP OFF!! Anyone know of an alternate method to procuring a manual?

I also have a few questions for those more learned than me on the 4Runner V8:

First of all the most general of the questions....anything i should know or be careful of?

I hear a rattleing in the ceiling to the left of the sunroof. Anyone have a clue what it could be? Can i fix it? or shoudl i just turn the radio up louder?

Its still under the original warrantee...how much is it for an extended thru Toyota?

Synthetic oils ok to use? Or what is recommended best for the engine? (seeing as how i dont have a friggin owners manual!

Thanks !!!

For the owner's manual, go to Toyota, I believe the cost is about $20-. Do not confuse this with a repair manual. Factory service manuals are a lot more. When ordering the manual, ask the person at the parts counter about the rattling.

Did you ever get your rattle fixed? I bought a 2003 new, and the rattle developed pretty quickly. They put a piece of clear rubber hose on a rod visible when the sunroof is open. Took care of it.

Synthetic oils: The Toyota dealership in Dallas area here recommends the synthetic blend. If you use straight synthetic, you always have to use straight synthetic.

Please don't respond to posts that are this old. Not only won't the OP read them, you are bringing back a post that no one cares about and pushes a modern post off the front page.

Also, stop giving misleading opinions about synthetic oil. Synthetic motor oil is totally compatible with both blends and dino oil. There is no way anyone could market it if it was incompatible.
