Ok, I have had this problem for awhile now... My neon idles very rough almost to the point of stalling.. It does it worse when im backing up. also when this is happening the lights are flickering on the car (dash/head/dome everything) there are no error lights nor codes.. im lost and know nothing about cars but would like to fix this problem. can anyone help me out? :banghead:

When was the last time you had a tune-up?

I know this is kind of old now, but on a 2004 Neon SXT, this would happen with the car I have if the voltage was low. For the sake of others who post here, check the battery and alternator, and check to see if there's a power draw which might be draining the battery.

I have a 2004 SXT and I have the same problem (from time to time). Once in a while, it will act up whenever it wants, but more often than not, it's only when I go over 71 mph... yes I know it sounds retarded, but if I go over EXACTLY 71 mph, my speedo will start to bounce between 70 and 77, and the lights dim and brighten again, etc... usually in 1-2 second intervals. I have narrowed this down to either a loose wire on the verge of grounding out, or maybe a problem with the alternator or the voltage regulator, but not sure yet.
