i am working on a 90' camry and it has an oil leak coming from the oil pump area but i am not sure if its the pump, oil pump case-to-block gasket or a cracked case-to-block. Could the case to block be removed with the engine in car or does the engine have to be removed. What is a good way to check for the source of leak :icon16:. Any help is greatly appreciated....:icon16:

Well I did some research and i found that yes you can remove the oil pump case-to-block with the engine in car. The ideler pulley bolts torque are set at 1983 26 to 36 foot-pounds.
1984 on 31 foot-pounds.
oil pump bolts are set at 1983 65 to 100 inch-pounds
1984 on 82 inch-pounds.
I would think that the oil pump case-to-block torque would be set at the year the car was made 1983 to that year= 1984 on to that year. All this came from a HAYNES REPAIR MANUAL. Blame it on them :naughty:
