1991 olds 3.1 stalls when warmlarry1969 11-18-2006, 08:34 PM Car starts right up in the morning. But after it gets warm it stalls and will restart if i push gas pedal to the floor but is not drivable in that condition. It surges tries to stall, misses but if i take my foot off the accelarator it will die.During this time i smell raw fuel blue smokeout of exhaust . If i let it set it will restart just fine in 20 to 30 minutes.i know it's running off base timing at first but im not sure what is wrong. No codes im getting code 53 but that is overcharge and that is from me reving motor up.:banghead: maxwedge 11-19-2006, 12:32 PM Welcome to AF. Start by checking the fuel pressure, also may want to scan it and look at the coolant temp sensor readings for the correct input. larry1969 11-19-2006, 02:49 PM This morning i took hair dry to ecm (computer) left the hair dry on for a few minutes then started the car stalled with in a few minutes.Took the hair dry off and let ecm cool down for 1 minute.Car started right up.Went to auto zone and got a ecm car is working now.Maybe this will help someone on down the road. crazy Jim 11-19-2006, 03:00 PM by "ECM" are you actually refering to the ignition module? GTP Dad 11-19-2006, 03:40 PM The ignition module is under the coils. The ECM is the computer located in the passenger compartment. Ian Szgatti 11-19-2006, 04:43 PM I hope that computer lasts. It might go like the other one if the variables are there. Is there any way moister is finding its way into that area? Have you looked for any shorted wires? maxwedge 11-19-2006, 07:03 PM This morning i took hair dry to ecm (computer) left the hair dry on for a few minutes then started the car stalled with in a few minutes.Took the hair dry off and let ecm cool down for 1 minute.Car started right up.Went to auto zone and got a ecm car is working now.Maybe this will help someone on down the road. Careful here, code 53 indicates over 17v recognized by the pcm, either you had/have an overcharge issue or a voltage spike. That series of pcm's was problematic anyway, but your symptoms were not atypical of that problem, good work. crazy Jim 11-19-2006, 08:51 PM This morning i took hair dry to ecm (computer) left the hair dry on for a few minutes then started the car stalled with in a few minutes.Took the hair dry off and let ecm cool down for 1 minute.Car started right up.Went to auto zone and got a ecm car is working now.Maybe this will help someone on down the road. was unaware that you could get an "ECM" at Auto Zone.... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
