I have noticed that there are two types of people on this board:

1. People that come here because of their great interest in these fine automobiles.

2. People that actually own one of these fine automobiles.

Well, I fall into group 1. I would like to fall into group 2, as would everyone else in group 1. My question is.... how is this possible damnit??

How are the lamborghini owners making enough money to afford these damn things?!?!?!? In the various pictures posted on this site, all of them seem like young kids too!!

I remember someone saying they started an internet business, but what kind of business??

I am 18, just graduated high school, and I am currently working 40 hour weeks at 10 dollars an hour as a supervisor for a market research company in Minnesota. I already have a nice car.. http://www.geocities.com/shadeone <-- go there to see it.

Damnit, I want a Lamborghini so bad.... And if anyone even tells me to get a kit car, I will laugh in their face!!!!!!

Any suggestions??!?!??!?!?!

How about investing in the lottery? hehe.

I go to the casino every once in a while and I am a good blackjack player.. I know how to manage my money really well too.

Well, I did some thinking today. I am ok at fixing up cars and I know tons of people that can do that type of stuff relatively well. my dad is a body man and he also specializes in fiberglass work on boats and anything else fiberglass.

What my plan is, is to buy crappy condition boats that have fiberglass work that needs to be done and help my dad do some of that, and in the process, learn the trade... then sell the freshly completed boats for a much higher price then we got them for, therefore getting some profit.....

eh.... just an idea....

let me know what you think or if you have any other suggestions on how to get money fast!

shadeone...why don't you try working on vettes? You can buy them for pretty cheap with some body damage. You could patch them up or whatever, then sell them for a lot of profit. Anyone know of any other fiberglass cars?

Shadeone, You are lucky, You have a trade that can be put to use. my Great-Uncle did something like that excpet with house and seriously made a few Million. He and his sons bought Crap Shacks and Fixed them up (Over a Few Months) and then sold them for $$$. Good Luck with it.

shadeone
08-30-2001, 08:27 PM
well shit...... never thought of vettes!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks!!!! Good idea! And houses... hmmm?? possibility.... Im also thinking about internet businesses of some sort.

AAHHH I need a diablo damnit! Im gonna go crazy!!!!! Looking at all the pictures on lambocars.com is torture!

oh yeah, i just remembered government auctions...... they sell confiscated cars and stuff for like 500 bucks!!! Then you can turn around and sell those for lots too!

or i could just jump out in front of a car and sue someone

well back to looking at my future car!!

Everyone wants a Diablo, but not many people can afford them...

think of it this way:

1. the car cost AUS 300,000 dollars
2. On road, tax around another $50,000 dollars
3. Service fee $4,000 Average every time usually every 6 month.
4. Insurance for a 18 year old, like me, i pay $48,000 a year premium, and some company won't insure you, the one who do will have a lot of contracts and costy.
5. Fuel bill is around $80 dollars a week. (average 20Km per day)
6. normal maintance, you may have to convert your garage depend what it is to fit the car and its horizton hing doors.

Conclusion, if you CAN'T be sure that you can earn more than 300 thousand US dollars a year CONSISTANT, don't think about it.

It is not easy to start a business that can make that much :bandit: money. But if you want, we always want more lambo owners on the site, where you from? i might give you some suggestions.

shadeone
08-30-2001, 10:08 PM
that is quite a lot there..... well I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, so I'd only be driving it maybe 4 months of the year because of snow and all that. I got a good enough tall garage right now and its big enough.

ANY help is appreciated........... thanks in advance.......

If you want a good money... i have an advice for you......

big investment, big return...

How much can you invest?? and wut is your reasonable aim from wut you do??

Put down a list of things that you enjoy doing the most (as in WORKING!!), then go and ask around in your area, wut is the most popular things people want and like, and could afford that not many people are doing.....

Then you have a very small list, may be only 1 or 2 things... then if you can get the stuff people wanted, find a Wholesaler and a buyer, then start your business.

It is always good to buy stuff from Asia, its VERY cheap and reliable. Right now, Australian Dollar is weak against US dollars, so u should able to buy goods for a good price.

Importing always gets big money! Trust me, our whole family does imports..

If you decide what you wanna do, tell me, my ICQ is 49725415. drop a line any time, i have many contacts within Asia and Australia. May be you can work something out.

If you want to make money, start now!

Any thing else, just ask, u got my ICQ#. And for other tips, i believe that Abstract and Jabba and Christalmighty are very succesive businessman!!

Porsche
08-31-2001, 10:23 AM
Imports eh? You mean like Cereal and Soup? Or Cars and Electronics? I could get into that. Sounds like a buisness that requires high capital though. Besides I already have an Idea that will Fly for sure, can't tell you though it is way to risky because it is a simple modification to car that nobody has come up with.

Lambo_BoY
08-31-2001, 10:32 AM
Well, my suggestions is that gather someone who have contacts and some you TRUST!! then make it legalise to produce only for you.... COPYRITES

alrhought the copyrights, once your idea is out, people would somehow modifie from your idea and make a better one, then you try to keep up, its very tiring.....

Eg, think of the Replica car busniess, 20 years ago, only a few people doing it. and did make a lot of money, now? how many fibreglass company are out there?

so.. if its something that you came up with, better try to do something now...

U got my ICQ, and my email, any time advise is alrite.

huh? I don't get it

Why do you say you would need to earn US$300,000 (AUS$600,000) a year to own a Diablo.

Adding up your yearly costs I get :
50,000+ (4,000*2)+48,000+(52*80)=AUS$110,160

I earn around AUD$300,000 a year and am considering buying one. Are you suggesting that that is not enough to run the car and live on. Is there something I'm missing.

shadeone
08-31-2001, 12:55 PM
well, I always have thought of starting a business here. I just dont know what kind of liscenses or schooling or anything that is required to rn one. There are a lot of lowriders up here (I drive one myself) but there arent that many good shops that sell parts or anything. Well anyways, I will check this post out again later! I'm gonna be busy this weekend. Thanks for all the advice guys! got any more ideas?

Post by ROM

Well, lets break the price up into another way.

If you are earing $300k a year.

It may just get you to pay for the car!! ONLY!

look, if you want to finance the car, a Diablo Roadster is around $450K basic one. and the monthly repayment for 60 month is $7500 dollars. that times 12 is 90,000 a year. just for the car only!! and you have to pay it for consistently for 5 years.

Insurance, depend on your age, some company don't insure you if you under 30. Shannon is a good one to go, but some good private ones are also good.... but then they cost a lot more.! so that adds up you need to pay $94,000.

Maintance fee, and the chance of your car get hit or whatever, it cost a lot more, a front bumper is like $10,000 and the rim is around the same price too.

Keep in mind that no one finance you unless your wage is half a million dollars and you need to prove your pay has been consistant... or you can pay the car once by your self, then the Tax department will have their eye on you...

And if you also have a mortage, a kid, a wife.....

You can do it, but its going to be tight...

I understand how you come to your figures but heres mine, tell me what you think:

1) I want a 98 VT (I like the old body shape) so I am assuming from prelimary internet searches and dealer calls that it will cost around (AUD)250-$300,000. I don't need any finance as I can pay it all in cash. All my money is tax paid and clean

2) As I am 28 my insurance will be lower. I got a quote for $32,000 per year, and I was also thinking of just getting 3rd-part fire and theft. If crash it because it was my fault then thats my bad luck.

3)This leaves me with just the Road Tax and Maintenance.

so my worst case annual running costs are
a) $50,000 -road tax
b) $32,000 - insuarance
c) $8000*2 - 6 monthly services
d) 52*$80 -fuel

=$102160 per year

I dont have any wife or kids, and my mortgage is covered my by other house (and a bit of topping up from my day job). So if my calculations are correct the only thing I have to worry about is if a Diablo is worth $100,000 in expenses for a bit of fun.

Lambo_BoY
09-03-2001, 07:49 AM
Yes, this figure is not too bad, although the insurance can be a bit lower, but any way its good enough...

I guess the price all varies depending on situations, like where you live or etc etc...

the third party well depend on which city you living then i don't think its worth it, after all, you don't want to smash it (i am saying you will) and get $0 out of it..... i mean, u pay $10,000 more and securies wut $300,000?? so ......

but its your choice tho......

Now its just that you have to find your dream car...

I think there is one in Sdyney, and one in Melbourne, a Navy one, i can give you the contacts if you want

Welcome to the club!!

rom
09-03-2001, 10:29 AM
yes thanks I'd like the contact details of any available Lambos. Im still in Europe though and wont be ready to buy till the start of next year when I return to Oz.,

Lambo_BoY
09-03-2001, 10:09 PM
Hey Rom

if you still in Europe, my suggestion is that buy it over there and import it in personally. it will end up saving money, A lot!

But i think you have to own it for i think was 18 or 24 month, i can double check it again if you want.

I have a few very good people who sales them, in fact its all in one big group Euro Cars Australia, in Melbourne it was Cavalli in St Kilda, but now Sharp Performance in South Bank, Sydney you have Metons in Pattamator, and one in Perth as well. Keep in mind that there aren't any lambos in Australia, the ones owns them hardly sales them, where in Europ you may have a larger Market and demand for cars like that.

Just suggestions, beside, if you own the car overseas, and you have a good record, the insurance would be cheaper. I don't think Diablos needs to change emition or etc, because the Euro version meets the Australian Standards, where the Countach can only import US version (i believe). so.... yes but i can double check it for you if you want.

give me a buzz on the site any time.

rom
09-04-2001, 11:00 AM
yes I have been looking at importing a Diablo from Europe and they are alot cheaper. However I need to own it for 1 year which cuts out me importing it privately. I would have to go to one of the Oz importers you mentioned, which I will do later this year.

Until then do you know where I can go to get info on Emissions, Oz standards etc. Unfortunately I dont know of any countries that have Right Hand Drive cars in Kilometres? England is the best bet as they are RHD but the cars are in Miles

A lot of people here have asked me about Wall Street jobs. While I don't live in NYC or work specifically on Wall St., I certainly am in that business as I trade stock options and am a partner in my firm.

My job as a trader is very hard and intense mental work, but fortunately it is for less than 7 hours a day in general, at least as far a the trading goes.

Trading is certainly not something that everyone can do nor something that everyone who does it is extremely sucessful at. I started about 9 years ago and didn't make any money for my first 6 months..but then things really started clicking and I never stopped making money.

As for other Wall St. jobs..there is investment banking which is a TON of work but will pay 7 figures a year once you've got maybe 7-10 years under your belt. But that is hard work and requires lots of contacts and ability to schmooze big clients into doing deals with your firm. You'll be unlikely even to get an interview without good grades from a good business school.

I think I'm the oldest Diablo owner here at 43. I can't stress enough to the younger dudes here, that they must be sure to finish college as that basically "punches their ticket" and opens up many many opportunites which will lead towards big money jobs. Off course there may be exceptions if you started an internet company that was successful, but even then, you'd probably need to go to school to meet the techically qualified guys you'd need as partners. There may be exceptions if you simply join a family business, but even then college and some management training isn't going to hurt.

The world revolves around money and it takes lots of money to own and take care of a sexy car like a Diablo. In general, those that make the most money work in fields where they are responsible for making their company alot of money.

when last we spoke you mentioned that the cost of Road tax would be around AUD$50,000. I just rang the Sth Aust Motor Registration department and they said that 12 months motor registration would cost AUD$601. I asked them to double check and they said that anything over 6 cylinders is the same price. Where did you get you price from, who did you call, are we talking about the same thing

You know what , if you really want it , it means you can have it. Belive in yourself... You may laugh , but it's like that... Anyway someone mentioned something like 80$ a week for gas , when doing 20 km a day. First you won't do 20 km daily in a diablo , and the second thing, when you're buying a diablo , you don't think about gas consumpion , do you?

I wouldn't. It's the sort of car where, If you can afford the MRSP, you don't care about gas, maintenance or other things.

wait.... suppose if you really have money and like to enjoy it.....that doesn't mean you should not be concerned about cost and gas and stuff....i hate to think that all rich people are so careless and blase about spending money and throwing it around and that practical thinking means economical thinking equals cheap....not true....im shopping for a Ferrari and or a Lamborghini as well as a throw around car like a new M3, Corvette Z06, or a Nice Benz....but I still think of price, gas, and other stuff just like anyone sensible would....look at chairman of the boards for hospitals and stock holders and CEO's of the companies....they think of economic impacts and practicality as well....i mean the limits on wages, benefits, bonuses, corporate downsizing, using cheaper equipment to get the job done, bidding for the best price for outsourcing and contracts.....see....they still think in economical terms just on a higher level; they don't just throw away money cause they have it, granted CEOs answer to stock holders but you answer to yourself when it comes to money.....its nice to flaunt your money and spend spend spend....supposing you just dont care about your money....it all comes down to self preservation...once in a while you can throw money away but i think most of the time, in the back of your head you have to have some sensibility economically in your decision that you can comprimise with your impusle and passion for a car....hell maybe im just thinking of miles per gallon gas just in case i go on a road trip and have to plan my gas stops cause my car would be sucking all the fuel....and God forbid im stuck in some no where highway at 3am in the morning with no cell phone coverage and a flat tire and empty gas tank....LOL:D :p :D :) ;)

what i mean is if you have to worry about the costs that come with a Lamborghini or Ferrari, like insurance, repairs, etc. then you can't afford it. :D
