How do i disable autolock on 1995 Buick Century?

How do I disable the "feature" that locks the doors everytime you take the shift selector out of park?

I may be wrong but from memory when the cars were new and I was working on them. Hold down the lock button at the same time shift the car out of park and back into park, then let go of the switch. that is all I remember about door locks.

Do i hold the button down before or after i turn the ignition into the "on" posistion?

Also, anyone else? I tried doing that a few times like you described and it didn't seem to work.
