hey fellas,

I live in an area thats hot all the time so i really dont need any heat. With all the extra weight and problems that come along with or GC's heater cores i want to know if there is some way , or some fitting on the t-stat housing that can be placed on so that no coolant will go to the core.
Just curious, and i think i smell coolant when my a/c's on. Dont wanna poison myself with something i dont need.!

you could just take one of the hoses (that go in the heater core )completely off then take the other one off just the core side and hook it in to where the the one you took completely off goes in to the engine

Get a piece of 5/8" tubing (copper or plastic) about 3" long and disconnect both hoses from the heater core and connect them together using the piece of tubing.

wtf! Y didnt i think of that! LOL. so the heater would drain completely from the fittings by taking off the hoses right?

Only problem you may encounter is that if you want air warmer than 38 degrees F, but less than outside temp, you may have a problem. Bypassing the heater core will make the A/C a on/off setup with no in-between. The AC uses the heater to adjust the air temp above 38'.

You would still have 'SOME' coolant inside the heater core, just blow some air through it.

thanks guys. i'll blow it out, but need to block the holes on the heater fiitings. Maybe stuff some rags in there. To Neon _RT - with that caribbean sun anything over 38 degrees dosent need to be heated.
