hey guys and gals. I have a problem. Will the transmission out of a 2001 chevy silverado 1500 truck fit into a 1992 buick roadmaster. I was told the RM has a 700r.

The 92 Roadie came with a 4L60 and changed in 1994 to 4L60E. The 01 Chev Truck would usually have a 4L60E, however, some came with the 4L80E. Either way, the truck tranny would not be compatible with the 92 Roadmaster. The big difference is the electronic control of the transmission as designated by the "E" suffix. The 92 used a cable control from the throttle cable to determine shift points. TCI transmissions, does make a separate control computer that can be programmed for any application to control the electronic Trans. Only problem is, it would be cost prohibitive to install & program.:nono: It would be better to stick with the original 4L60.:iceslolan

BTW: The 700R4 was renamed in 92-93 and the new term used was "4L60":screwy:

I liked it better in the "old days" when we referred to trannies as a Turbo 350, or Turbo 400, or even a TH350/400.:grinyes:

Yea, and even before the Turbo 350 & 400, we had the Dynaflow and Powerglide:smokin: I broke a few of those also!:grinyes:

Thanks for the info on TRANNY SWAP- 2001 chevy pick-up tranny into a 1992 buick roadmaster.

Will the transmission out of a 1990 chevy suburban fit into the 92 buick roadmaster w/o major modifications or high costs?

thanks.

The 1/2 ton 1987-1992 Suburban used the TH700-R4/4L60, so yes it should be the same.:grinyes:
