340ci "Six-Pack" HEMI V6cutthroat1117 11-10-2006, 08:26 PM Im pretty much lookin for info on this engine... the 340 cubic inch "Six-Pack" HEMI V6. It was a limited production run motor in the early 70's Darts, Challengers and 'Cudas. I do know it produced HP in the ballpark of 320, but as far as actual dimensions on the engine, or what metals were used in it have been rather difficult to locate. Basically im looking for someone who may know of a company that makes Replicas or restores and resells these engines, although any information on block, head, pistons, crank, overall engine dimensions would be appreciated. JustSayGo 11-10-2006, 09:01 PM 340 cid are "A" block V8. They are not a Hemi head engine. The six-pack 340 CID engines that you are researching have different cylinder heads and rocker arms. I believe TA blocks are a little different casting with more material at the main bearing webs and maybe different alloy. They have a steel crankshaft like a HD 318 truck engine and maybe heavier connecting rods. The 340 bore is 4.04" and 3.31" stroke. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.autos.makers.chrysler/browse_thread/thread/deb7673cad2dc223/c463aa3d65c8378a?lnk=st&q=Chrysler+TA+cylinder+heads&rnum=1&hl=en#c463aa3d65c8378a BleedDodge 11-13-2006, 02:16 PM "LA", not "A". JustSayGo 11-13-2006, 11:10 PM "LA" describes an "A" block, as in Late "A". 273, 318, 340, and 360 blocks are called "A" blocks by the factory. 361, 383, 400, 413, 426, and 440 wedge head blocks are "B" blocks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_LA_engine BleedDodge 11-14-2006, 09:19 PM http://www.allpar.com/mopar/318.html http://www.allpar.com/mopar/a-engines.html The 340 is an LA engine. An example of conflict would be a poly 318 and a normal wedge 318. The poly is of course an A engine and the wedge is an LA. 340 was never an A engine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
