group build : marble lotus super 7
wouter1981 11-08-2006, 01:35 PM Well I started my lotus for the group build and wanted to something entirely different than all the engine swaps you see, so I choose to paint my caterham in a black/green marble effect. Hope you like the result eventough it's not finished yet. Needs a lot of polishing , clearing, polishing, clearing... http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/328708cater11-med.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/328708cater21-med.JPG wouter1981 11-08-2006, 01:37 PM damn I posted it in the wrong section. Could it be moved to the WIP-street section? THX Nutsforcars 11-08-2006, 03:01 PM This looks great. Good idea and execution. Looking forward to see it all polished up. But isn't the Lotus 7 supposed to be light? :grinyes: wouter1981 11-08-2006, 03:31 PM This looks great. Good idea and execution. Looking forward to see it all polished up. Hopefully that sucker will shine up real good too :) WRC_413X 11-08-2006, 07:06 PM That looks very sick. Definatly not something you see often, actually i havnt seen anyone do that. A nice set of gunmetal or black rims and itd look killer, imo. Definatly keep us posted, great start! :grinyes: klutz_100 11-10-2006, 06:06 AM I love "off the wall" ideas  12/10 for originality  I'd love to know in more detail how you went about painting that effect. I read something once on the Iwata tips site but didn't really understand it :( Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. auw12 11-10-2006, 08:14 AM W:eek: W!!!this is totally amazing!!!!:eek2: :eek2: :eek2: MPWR 11-10-2006, 08:37 AM That's a totally crazy looking paint job! :smokin: After clearing and polishing, I expect it really will look like polished marble. It looks stunning. Gonna tell us how you did it? Cool idea, one I would have never thought of. I could see it as a 1:1 being shown off at a Seven club event- "Marble? Nah, the car was originally British Racing Green- but it's seen a bit too much sunlight, and this is what happened after some fading and cracking!" wouter1981 11-10-2006, 12:13 PM That's a totally crazy looking paint job! :smokin: After clearing and polishing, I expect it really will look like polished marble. It's MY idee and i don't want anybody to steal it ;-) Just kidding. As soon I have some spare time I'll make detailed step by step with pictures how I've done it. I could explain it just by typing a text, but nobody would understand it without pictures. It's not that hard at all and you don't even need an airbrush to make the marble. I painted the entire car in about 2 hours, but there will be a LOT of clearing and polishing involved. wouter1981 12-16-2006, 09:31 AM My finished car is posted here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=4522024#post4522024 AutomotiveHelper.com, Copyright ©2013
