Running lights allmost dead

This morning the running lights on my 1988 Buick Century suddenly went on holiday. First I thought they were dead, but there is some light in them. Like park lights. When I turn on the long lights (I do not know the correct US word...) the running lights acts as normal. As do the long lights. But the moment I turn off the long lights, my running lights are back acting as park lights, and I have vision maybe three feet in front of my car. This is very bad as the sun rise at 8 am and sets at 4 pm in early november where I live.

Check the grounds on the daytime running light module. I am not certain where it is located on your particular vehicle. Since they work normally when the headlights are on this indicates that either the ground is bad or the power going to the lights is inadequate.

You have a high resistance in the wire. Not getting enough power to or from the lights.

Thank you for answers. I will have my buddy the electrician look at it tomorrow afternoon, with pizza. In the meantime I have updated my english. With better language my problem is as follows: When driving with running lights, my Outer Low Beam is like a candle light. When turning on my Inner High Beam, both my Outer Low Beam and my Inner High Beam lights up perfectly clear.

Check the ground to the light. It is either corroded or loose. This will cause a dim headlight. Since the high beams work alright then the ground the low beam side is bad. When you have the lights on high they use the ground wire for the high beam side and that is why you are getting better lights. This may be as simple as a bad light socket causing the issue.
