oil pump replacement

I get a low pressure warning on my 01 aztek. I think it is the oil pump.
I have found parts. What I would like to know is how to change the pump. Do I have to drop the pan? In most cases this is where the pump is but these azteks are a pain sometimes.

So would I be able to do this, or would it be best to take it in. It happened while going around a corner. Engine does run but seems to have a bit of an extra knock and thats why I think it is the pump and not just a sensor but knowing the extra crap put on these newer vehicles, it could be something that tells the pump to, well, pump.

If anyone can, let me know about the pump. Thanks.

If it is knocking due to low oil pressure you have engine problems not just the pump. Get a mechanical gage on it and see what the actual pressure is, are you loosing any coolant ,has the oil been changed regularly I assume it is full.

I have a 2002 and I get the low oil pressure alarm for about 15 minutes when i first start my Aztek, after that it goes away. I'm not sure if it's the pump or a sensor either, let me know what you find out.

Welcome to AF, doubt if the pump is bad, have the oil pressure tested with a known good mechanical gage. BTW this thread is too old to continue, please start a new one if any follow up is required, thanks.
