i just got my first beetle.
i was just wondering about where to put my headunit, since i dont have a radio.

DO NOT cut the radio opening in the dash to mount the unit. Too many of these old cars were butchered like that, and they're not making any more.

Most folks mount aftermarket audio gear in the glove box. Most of the original cardboard inserts for the glove box are tattered and falling apart. Replacement boxes are cheap and you can easily adapt or make a mount for the unit, and screw it into the plastic replacement box, and also drill holes for the wires. Easy wiring for an amp mounted in the trunk.
