tire size? 97cavalier 11-03-2006, 02:12 PM
hi, i had a question on tires sizes on my camaro. I am going to get 2 new back tires and i was wondering on what size. Now i have 245/50/15's. The 245 is the with of the tire right? and the 50 is how tall the side wall is? Do you think a 275/50/15 would be a good choise and would fit? I can get thoes off tire rack for $108 a tire and the are bfg radial t/a's. Or at this tire shop i can get 265/50/15's for $119 a tire. but that is mounted and balanced and all. I just want a wide back tire. i heard 275 is the widest tire i can get. Genopsyde 11-03-2006, 02:27 PM i'm pretty sure the 275's will work fine 97cavalier 11-03-2006, 06:01 PM ya i think i will just get the 275's off tire rack, the only thing is the cost of mounting and balence. 92zcamaroperson 11-04-2006, 02:40 PM i dont think 275's will work with an 8" wide wheel assuming you have stock wheels 1986Z28 11-04-2006, 04:58 PM hi, i had a question on tires sizes on my camaro. I just want a wide back tire. i heard 275 is the widest tire i can get. 245 is the width of the trire in MM's, the 50 is the aspect ratio, meaning the tire sidewall is 50% as tall as the width of the tire, which is 122.5 milimeters. a 275/50-R15 should fit a 8" wheel but it would be close, i think something like a 265/50R15 would be best for you though 97cavalier 11-04-2006, 07:07 PM i don't have stock rims, they are american racing ones, but i thik the are 8" ones. I might have to go with the 265's then. silicon212 11-04-2006, 08:20 PM I used to run 255s with 7" wheels no problem. An 8" wheel will work with a 275 tire, but you will need to recalibrate your speedometer. 97cavalier 11-04-2006, 08:31 PM ya thats another thing, my spedometor is like 10mph fast, i don't know why, the car don't have diffrent gears or any thing, so maybe this will help it a little. And how do you fix the spedometor on a 92 camaro? i here there is a gear you can buy but where you get them? 1986Z28 11-04-2006, 08:46 PM you need to change the gears for the speedo, go to www.700r4.com (http://www.700r4.com) to find out which ones you need 97cavalier 11-04-2006, 10:32 PM Thanx alot, i have been looking for them for a while now. 1986Z28 11-04-2006, 11:28 PM no problem 97cavalier 11-11-2006, 11:53 PM last question, will 275/60/15's big to big in the side wall? will it look like a truck tire or ride to high? 97cavalier 11-12-2006, 11:31 PM Ok, sorry about all the questions. i finally decied what i am getting.
