Yesterday I didn't notice a dip and dropped the right side of the car about 3 inches off of a concrete ledge. The car landed on the frame right about behind the right front wheel. I was able to drive it off forward without difficulty.

Looking at the frame from the side does not reveal any damage. Do you think the frame is stiff enough to withstand this without any damage? Has anything similar happened to your e36 and what was the outcome?

Thanks!

How is she driving? Might check the alignment? Any noticable bends or cracks?

Drives fine, I guess... No visible cracks, at least from the side.

If it worries you have it checked out.

I had a friend once who ran a car into a curb and the front end folded up. It turned out that the car he was driving had rust problems (this was back in the early 80's). Him hitting the curb at a slow speed might of saved his life, had he been on the highway and hit a bump... bad day...

I ran my BMW over my curb once and it left a small dent in the underside. No driving problems as of now, but she is still in alignment according to my alignment shop.

A 3 inch drop at low speeds shouldn't have hurt the frame any.
