Rough Idle '92 3.3L

I have read about most of the valves and sensors to clean and check. I will do that this weekend.

I pulled the air filter and noticed that the air intake had a tight messed steel screen on it (on engine/manifold air intake). It doesn't seem to let in enough air - could/can I remover the screen to allow more air flow? Also, is there any benefit to replacing the black plastic air tube that comes off the air box - replace it with some tubing that has a larger diameter (less constrictive) and feed it down to just behind the front grill (enabling cooler air for the engine)?

Thanks

The screen is there for a good reason. There is millions of GM running good with it on there.
If you look at the OEM air intake it is already a cold on the road forced air intake from the grille area.
For the rough idle start with a good tune up and check the pcm for codes and sensor readings.

The screeen can be removed, there are many cars that don't have it, I don't see the point of it, but it is there for a reason, cold air intake would be a good idea idea, it would allow more air into the engine, better mpg, i would put it in the fender instead of the grill, i you have a rough idle, check out the idle screw on the throtel body by the throtel cabel, your car might have a low idle speed, try cleaning the maf sensor, i have a rough idle becouse my rpms are to low and my car runs rich, i have a 90 with the 3.3 too, these might help, but the 3.3 also is known to have a bit of a rough idle anyway

My buick has a little rough idle to it. Ok the screen is for the maf sensor. It gives direct air into the intake and sensor. It does restrict air at all. It help the sensor and I heard a honeycomb screen help more air into the intake. I don't know if that works or not. I haven't taken mine off and I have a cold air intake and if runs fine.
