throttle bodies and turbo?jdmhagen 11-02-2006, 01:05 AM k so i was readin about the sr20 and it said that a pulsar gti-r rally car had individual throttle bodies and was turboed, is this true?? i just thought it was kind of weird because i had never heard of it before, i just figured throttle bodies were only on n/a motors 240SXSlideStar 11-02-2006, 01:31 AM Well first, all EFI cars have trottle bodies, second, any car can have ITBs, I think you thought that only NA cars had ITBs because of the open air kind. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v607/ScooterS14/ITBs/itbs005.jpg You can have ITB's with a traditional intake manifold, the RB26DETT and GTi-R SR20DET both have ITBs. http://press.nissan-global.com/COMMON/IMAGES/CURRENT_JP/OLDMODELS/SKYLINE_GTR/LOW/skylinegtr_03.jpg jdmhagen 11-02-2006, 01:58 AM ok thanks, i meant itb's on that second part, so the rb26 and sr20 from the pulsar dont have open air throttle bodies right? and i'm guessin it would be pointless to put open air T.B.'s or even try to on a turboed motor because then u wouldnt be able to use an intercooler right? i feel like an idiot lol nissan_240sx 11-02-2006, 02:36 AM You could have an intercooler with itbs Skyline pic above MetalHeadZaid 11-02-2006, 02:45 AM you need to learn a little more about engines in general, so il make this simple. air goes into the throttle body and then to the rest of the engine on any car with EFI. turbos pump air through the intercooler, then into the throttle body. doesnt matter if you have an intercooler or not, your turbo has to be somehow plumbed to the throttlebody or else your engine wont be getting any of that pumped turbo air. a turbo car with ITBs just has the turbo pumping into every throttle body instead of just one. on an NA car, it is logical to have open air throttle bodies because any pipes/tubes before the throttlebody will just kill performance. S13Driftfiend 11-02-2006, 05:14 PM open ITB setups on hachis = the sex jdmhagen 11-02-2006, 06:36 PM k i know all that about how the air goes in through throttle bodies and how the skyline has individual, I'm talking about open air throttle bodies. I'm just sayin it would be pointless cuz the intercooler would have no where to be put, i was just tryin to confirm what i had said. but i understand it now thanks guys S13Driftfiend 11-02-2006, 08:36 PM Jon do you have any more pics/info on that open ITB KA in the first pic? pm me if you want DC1984 11-02-2006, 08:45 PM i know with that 240 bible link that was posted here, ther was a faq on how to do that. this should be it http://www.240sxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58363 it might make you log in though MetalHeadZaid 11-02-2006, 08:57 PM used gsxr throttle bodies or something. still wont push 180 at teh wheels though.
