i currently own a 2000 sentra, it just has I/h/e cuz it's the qg18 so it's kinda pointless to mod. anyways, i'm looking to buy a 240 in a year or so because i want to learn to drift. i know a lot of people just drop an sr20 in there right away, but i was wondering how many people stick with the stock engine and turbo that. my plan was to learn to drift while i still have the stock engine, and then upgrade to a sr20 once i'm better at drifting. basically, i just wanna know if people have been more satisfied with building up the stock engine w/turbo or if i should go the route of a sr20?

I'd say do the ka-t if you want to set it up to your pref.

SR if you want to get it done with.

Practice legally :)

differential and suspension is a priority over power for drifting. get those learn to drift on stock motor. then when you pop/ get tired of it swap motors. many prefer the sr because it holds better power in the later rpm which is better for drifting. but the ka will be excellent to learn on. plus, if you get the suspension and differential already done when you swap you will already have better use of the sr over most people.

yes! what all of them said^^ lsd and suspension are a must before motor. a stock ka will do fine for a beginning drifter. once youre a mad tyte drifter yo then you can decide whether to go sr20 or not. personally, i prefer ka-t (boosting the stock motor) because it turns out to be alot less expensive in the long run when you break shit. if moneys not a problem for you and you can order a new sr20 when you blow your first one then go for it.

LSD!!! get one asap or before you even have the car if you find a good deal. number one thing that making learning to drift hard is a one wheeler.

a local guy goes out and rapes the competition with a KA24E and I/H/E. Its all about supsension, diff, and driver. You dont need more power. Look at all the 4AG corolla's, drift nicely with weak power and no torque.

yeah, money's gonna be tight cuz i'll just be gettin out of college. i think i'll take everyone's advice here and stick with the ka and maybe turbo it down the road. first things first, which brands would you (anyone) recommend for suspension and all that good stuff? sorry to ask so many questions, but i'd just like to get opinions from people who actually drift their cars. thanks in advance

The usual problem with "JDM" (Tien. etc etc.) coilovers is that if they break you need to send them out to get them fixed.. just something to think about

DEF. nothng wrong with "JDM" coilovers though

sorry to ask so many questions

Not a problem for anyone, ask away!
