Have any of you guys put a rpm thing in your 88? the reason I want one is because im interested in knowing more than just the speed, I want to know what rpms im running at..
even if you havent done it, do you know if it could be done?
thanks

Yes, this is do-able. You would have to splice a wire in from the ICM (I don't know which one though) and run it into the cabin to an aftermarket tach.

k, thanks but what is the ICM...once I know that, I would be able to do the wiring

The ICM is the Ignition Control Module, located under the coil pack, near the front of the motor (radiator front). The coil pack is where all the plug wires terminate.

why do i get the sinking feeling morgant is crying somewhere in a corner with wires in his hands...
You need a particular gauge for this because its a waste sprk system. A regular gauge would have you thinking that you are idle at 1300 rpm, and at the high side you'd be reving at a mighty 8000 rpm... SWEET

no, im pretty sure im not crying with wires in my hands...I just decided to not put in a tach becasue, well, I dont need it. Im now saving up for an srt-4, so putting a tach in my 88 is low on my list...even if i did cut wires and crap, i would know how to put them back together cause Ive been doing electrical stuff for years
