97 Taurus transmission won't engage?bmalo17 10-30-2006, 12:20 AM i was driving on the interstate going 70 and next thing i know my revs go real high and im slowing down. it no longer goes into gear. so i tow it home and this is what i have: no CEL tranny fluid is good. (great color no smell no flakes) all electric systems work in the car. (lights, a/c, wipers, radio) checked as many wires around this TRS thing aka neutral safety switch to see if any grounds have gotten loose. i tried every combo with the gear selector... nothing help! this car has a rebuilt tranny that is now 5 yrs old. three years ago a speed sensor VSS was put in it. ive had for as long as ive known the problem of the car not wanting to go into gear right away. for example i back out of my driveway and going from reverse to drive it takes a second to engage the forward gear. after the first couple semi-slam gear changes years ago i have always waited patiently for it to engage without any rev. i hope this clues someone in to the problem here. man i hope this is an electrical problem...... brad. e_powers 10-30-2006, 04:41 AM new/rebuilt tranny time. stick a fork in it it is done sorry bmalo17 10-30-2006, 12:44 PM thats it huh well could anyone tell me waht went wrong and why? thanks brad vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
