95 G20 Water Pump Replacement - R&R Question Ol'Jim 10-28-2006, 05:04 PM
95 3/4 Ton Conversion Van. 5.7/350 V-8. Cannot figure out how to remove Fan Shroud. It looks like the pump can be replaced without removing radiator & all the oil & trans cooler lines, if I could just get the upper half of the 2-piece shroud out of there. The A/C lines from compressor to heater core enclosure are laying across the top of the shroud, and they are very stiff. I don't even mind removing the radiator to change the pump, but I sure don't want to disconnect any of the A/C system. I have all the bolts out of the shroud, so the top half of it is loose, but can't manage to get it out of the engine compartment. I cannot find a repair manual for full-size vans anywhere in my town. Anyone done this before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! -Jim. twistedtech 10-29-2006, 12:06 AM Try taking the fan and the shroud at the same time.Unbolt fan, unbolt shround, lift out together. bill fryer 11-21-2006, 11:03 PM the shroud unbolts from the top it is in 2 sections upper and lower the bolts are on both sides. unbolt them and the 2 plastic clamps on top and remove the top of the shroud. after that it is a piece of cake. loosen the fan bolts with the belt still attached. Good luck billy rhandwor 01-04-2007, 08:13 PM On your Air Cond lines loosen any straps holding them down. Almost always you can slide the shroud sideways an inch or so and then push in and turn it so it will come out. Just take your time and don't break anything.
