bonneville mods95bonnevillesem 09-09-2002, 11:50 AM ok, i posted this in the bonneville mods forum but it hasn't been replied to, so i hoped by posting it in this popular forum i would get a reply. I want to know if i can modify the air filter box on a 95 bonneville se by cutting it or removing some parts of it so air is rammed in there....thereby increasing the hp a little bit. DVSNCYNIKL 09-09-2002, 12:16 PM There are people here who have made homemade CAI's but not sure if they received the desired results. Basically removing the housing that contains the air filter. Then making some sort of adapter to your open and and attaching a cold air filter at the end. Not that I suggest you do it, just what I've heard other peeps do. I suggest you look into more though. I think they sell CAI's for Bonnevilles. I think you have to look for fbody mods. dbartoschek 09-09-2002, 07:47 PM you can always try a Tornado, hooked up with K & N Filters....might give you 8-10hp Cbass 09-13-2002, 07:51 AM I don't think a "Tornado" intake thingy is going to make any positive difference. It's a scam. If anything, it's adding restriction to your intake. A K&N air filter might make a difference, depending on how restrictive the stock filter is. Many people underestimate just how much a stock paper filter can flow. I would not advise cutting up your airbox. You're just going to get more dirt in there, and your filter won't last as long. In fact, your filter will get dirtier faster, and flow even less. If you want more power and fuel efficiency, port match your cylinder heads and intake manifold. This is a very simple procedure, and something that should have been done from the factory. On any mass produced engine, there is extra metal left over from the casting of the cylinder head. Often, this extra metal juts out around the ports, and causes a serious flow restriction. This can be removed by porting, and is probably best done by a machine shop. On the other hand, port matching is really easy. You take the intake manifold off, and line up the gasket against the intake ports. Get a big black magic marker, and shade any metal you can see around the port through the gasket. Do the same on the cylinder head, and you will end up with a black ring around the ports. Get a dremel, and grind away and metal in that ring. When you are done, the size of the ports, intake runners and gasket will all be the same. This will greatly improve the intake flow, and give you more power and better fuel economy. mitch9465 09-23-2002, 12:38 AM Um yes and no. It is a scam for that much money. But unfortuantly they do work. Why is that not good.... cuz its too easy. :p Scott 02 02-03-2003, 05:05 PM How well do they work?
