i have a 1995 2.0L 4cyl automatic. just in the past few days the car has begun downshifting randomly. its always when im going about 45+ mph. i dont even give it much if any gas and it downshifts hard and thats no good. check the fluid and it was ok. what next? thanks for any help!!!

happened to me once when I had just bought my 'tour downshifted than upshifted on the highway for no apparent reason.

It still shifts hard sometimes, no real rhyme or reason as to why, though.

You can check to see if you have any pcm codes. Also it might be the O/D on the fritz, if its shorting out it might cause a clunky downshift out of thin air.

Best of luck, might just disappear on its own, but no guarentees.
