im new here so this is my first post and it is important to me, ive been experiencing some trouble with my 2002 s10 zr2, i push down on the gas and it wont immediatly pickup speed it feels like the engine is working really hard with no result, finally last night i shut it off at the gas station and it wouldnt start back up, had it towed to the garage and the guy called me this morning and said that my fuel pump is shot.....anyone ever had a problem like this or anyy suggestions.....someone, anyone feel free to respond id really appreciate it.

Have to test the fuel pump with a pressure tester to see and 60psi min to start with the key on engine off and then 53psi running. Yes these do fail but I'd replace the fuel filter first and there is a test wire to bypass the pump relay and see if it has failed - ask the shop about both these items. If pump is OK then change the cap/rotor with a new Delco as first step - some aftermarkets are failing and can't see or test them only replace - believe me on this and save yourself a few days work.

ya, most likely is the 1)fuel pump, or the 2)catalytic converter could be clogged; there are many possibilities of what could be wrong, but those are pretty common in our shop. Think of it like putting a bag over your head........ 1)You will work harder to breathe, but not much will really ever happen. 2)Or if it is the catalytic
converter then the engine is producing more exhaust fumes than it can let out, causing a back up in the air flow. It cant let in air if it can't let it out.

yep that can happen - just make sure you have taken it to a competent shop - the mechanic needs to be knowledgeable on vortec fuel systems and test it thouroly <- ( however you spell that) LOL. i have no affiliation with any gm dealer but - even a good home mechanic can save some dollars by going to a gm garage when he is stumpped - they have the tools and knowledge to diagnose a problem properly and quickly .. of course there are exceptions to the rule -
