I have a 99 impreza wagon ashtray light works sometimes but not most of the time
is there something to check or just change?
is it a simple bulb change or more complicated?

if I recall this correctly.....and it's the same on the wagon as RS....you remove the fascia that goes around the radio. There are some plugs for the cig lighter and a bulb that goes into a hole somewheres around there. It's pretty simple. Just remember to connect the connectors before you put the fascia back in. lol. It's not fun plugging in your phone charger and then nothign happening lol.

It's really easy to get everything apart, then you just have to find a similar bulb from radio shack or where ever.
