i do'nt know how da hell did it happen. but as i was doin a brake job. i had a really hard time taking out the nuts. then i found out that 2 of them striped. then i was driving around in 3 really carefully. then i went to autozone to get replacement ones. which was waaaaaaaaaay too small by the way. before i realized that though. i went home. took everything apart. to only find out that i had striped a 3rd one. sooo now only have 2 lugs left. and my car is stuck on a jack because i'm not stupid!!! this beyond sucks!!!!

you sure you were loosening the nuts and not tightening them?

well my friend was tightening them with a air gun. sooo i dunno. its weird. i just lost one of my brake caliper bracket bolts too. i found the closest thing i could find. i was still forced to work the bolt in. cusae the threads are in a larger pitch. it should be okay right?

man, sounds like your having some bad luck with your car. The bolt should be fine in there just as long as it's all the way in and it's tight, but since you had to force the bolt in then it should be in there pretty good and you shouldn't have to worry about it.

yeah i did what most mechanics would do in a tight situation. substitue. well i just hope htat i can take that bolt out okay cuase i still gotta get 1 more lug in there. i'm just having a bad day. i was changin the oil on my dads mpy and i fucking striped his thread for his oil filter~!! that shit wouldn't stop leaking!! luckily my dad figured out soemthing to rethread it. now its fine. this sucks. i've pretty much done most of the work on my car. and i can do them fine. but i messed up on a lousey oil change. my dad must think hes sending me to school to party or something. lolz but its good to hear that the bolt should up fine from youc uase you seem pretty good. and i was thinkin about htat one bolt for hours!!! like "oh shit i hope it don't snap when i try to take it out" kinda worry.

i personally wud be scared when taking it out, cuz if u forced it in, it probably stripped, and when u take it out gonna strip some more, then that particular bolt dont fit, and its way too stripped for the factory bolt
and if its the caliper bracket, then i believe ur gonna have to get a new caliper, or junkyard hunt

ONe thing that annoys me is a mechanic who can't properly torque something... who uses an airgun on a caliper bolt? Just hand tighten the damn thing...

i'm afraid what he'd do with a spark plug replacement...

Werd. I am Mr. Torque wrench on my car. Anything I can get a torque wrench on I do. Yes, even my lugs get the courtesy of a torque wrench.

Old thread.
