1998 cool system bleed valves =- jamesmetairie 10-21-2006, 09:00 AM
just flushed system and replaced coolant. seems to be operating ok. should i gamble and play with the 2 bleeder valves OR =- leave well enough alone ?? what would you do ? richtazz 10-21-2006, 09:29 AM It's not uncommon to get lucky and not need to bleed the system. Keep a close eye on the temp guage, if it starts to fluctuate or rise suddenly, then you have air in the system that needs to be bled out. tblake 10-21-2006, 12:14 PM Yes, defenatly crack them open and listen for the hissssss of air escaping. and turn on the heat and see if it blows warm just to make sure that you have coolant circulating through the heater core. jamesmetairie 10-21-2006, 01:40 PM Yes, defenatly crack them open and listen for the hissssss of air escaping. and turn on the heat and see if it blows warm just to make sure that you have coolant circulating through the heater core.i waited for the motor to cool. then opened the rad cap.then i opened both bled valves. then started the motor. the one on passenger side squirted coolant instantly. the one on the driver side did not blow air or coolant, but i saw the coolant inside it.maybe motor wasn,t hot enough. i then turned off the motor . them screwed them back in. i,ll make sure the heater works. note =- that rad cap is still freaking me out. it looks like the picture in the owners book is wrong. it don,t make sense for the "tube " side to be not on the tube side of the cap.
