Greetings. I am having a window regulator problem with my 2002 gtp. It doesn't matter whether it's cold or hot outside. Sometimes my driver's side window would work and sometimes it wouldn't. I've read that the originals from gmc can run $500-600 bucks. However, I've seen listings on ebay for as little as $50. Does anyone have any advice on buying a window regulator from ebay?

Thanks.

I don't have any experience with the ones from e-bay but you can try the following places to find a used one. Try car-part. com to search wrecking yards throughout the country. Generally you can save big money. Also contact ed morad at moradpartscompany.com. He specializes in 3800 GM cars and has good prices.

You'll need to be careful on the power window motor/regulators on EBay unless they are GM/AC Delco. Some members claim to have good luck with them and no doubt the price is good. The biggest complaint I have seen is after installation the motor speed is not the same as stock. So the quality of the motor and whether it meets GM OEM specs is in question. Symptoms are the windows may go up or down slower.

Just finished replacing the right regulator assm in my 00 Sierra with one off ebay and have put one in wifes 01 LeSabre both with no problems from the units and they are much cheaper than any parts place. You will get a completely new assm. it will bolt right up. Getting the door panels off is biggest problem at least was for me. I did a little how to on the LeSabre in the LaSabre forum. Good luck

Just thought I would share my experience with window regulators. The drivers side stopped working on my 98GP, took it to abody shop for repair because I had a small fender bender and they said they could repair while doing the other work. They used some after market part (dont know what) with a one year warranty cost $120 for the part and $35.00 for one hour of labor. It was slower than original and one year and two months later, it is not working. I have two not working and one that works some times to fix right now.
