gt2871r turboDC1984 10-20-2006, 05:35 PM a buddy of mine offered me a gt2871r turbo for 450 bucks. i have a blacktop with the stock t25 in it right now. i dont know too much about turbos and was wondering if this is worth it. i looked it up on ebay and it was going for almost 1100. anybody also know what a safe reliable boost is on this turbo? slideways... 10-20-2006, 06:43 PM its a t28 ball bearing with a .71 exhaust housing i believe. MetalHeadZaid 10-20-2006, 07:40 PM i thought it had a bigger compressor but il take your word for it slideways...yeah though, i've heard good things about that turbo, and that seems like a really good deal. just make sure your buddy isnt trying to scam you, search around on how to check turbos for problems. where does the power fall off on your current setup? zauber 10-20-2006, 08:34 PM if it's the gt2871rlb-31 it's normally a grand for the turbo and has potential for like 350whp. they have amazing spool times almost identical to stock. good turbo in my opinion. and i think it's 22psi... but i could be wrong on that. MetalHeadZaid 10-20-2006, 10:02 PM spool times almost identical to stock. im getting one. DC1984 10-21-2006, 02:00 PM what do you mean "where does the power fall off on my current setup"? i aint realy having any problems with my car runing right now. i do think i might be having a problem with my BOV. i have a blitz BOV and i can feel the air coming out of it so i know its working(somewhat). the thing is is that you cant hear it. but what you can hear is some snake hiss that sounds like it is coming from the filter. im not positive but im pretty sure that it cant be too good.my best guess is that the BOV isnt letting enough air out and the rest of it is going through the turbo and out the filter. i have tried tuning the BOV it just doesnt realy change anything with the filter noise. the BOV is located inbetween the FMIC and the intake manifold. any knowledge on this would be helpful. and can anyone confirm that 22 psi? slideways... 10-21-2006, 03:38 PM if you recirc your BOV all you should hear is a sighing noise when it blows off. that loud psshhhaaa or pidgeon noise that some have is actually the BOV operating at less than peak efficiency and letting air off slower than it can to make that noise. and a gt28 based turbo should be able to hit mid 20s psi without too big of a falloff DC1984 10-21-2006, 07:48 PM can i recirc the blitz DD BOV? DC1984 10-21-2006, 07:50 PM also, does anyone know of any good bottom mount exhaust manifolds? slideways... 10-21-2006, 08:38 PM question 1 - i believe so. http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/blitz/blowoff-dd.html question 2 - http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/misc_intakexh.html 240SXSlideStar 10-21-2006, 10:03 PM Paying a lot for agood manifold is stupid, any tubular manifold can crack. 50 bucks for a SSAC and your gold, just weld some braces, get it ceramic coated and make sure your exhaust has good hangers and ur downpipe has a flex, you'll still be far under the 800$ for a brand name manifold. DC1984 10-22-2006, 02:40 AM i never really thought about how your turbo and exhaust was mounted could cause cracks and leaks in your manifold vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
