98 Bravada Air Bag Light Stays OnVintageHondaman 10-18-2006, 11:10 PM My airbag light stays on almost all of the time on my 98 Bravada. Once in awhile it will go off but only for a few seconds. The owners manual obviously says take it to the dealer to check the sensors, etc. Is it possible for myself to troubleshoot and repair this problem or is this really a dealer only repair? Chris Stewart 10-19-2006, 07:47 AM The '97 Service Manual says to: "Connect a scan tool to the Data Link Connector, follow the directions in the scan tool instruction manual"( I guess how to access the SIR[airbag] part of the computer), "then request the SIR Diagnostic Trouble Code display". This is just to access the trouble codes...you really hope this points out the problem so repairs to the system can be made in a timely manner. In my own opinion, the airbag system is set up to be difficult and dangerous to keep folks from making their own repairs and sending the work to dealers...hopefully. I'd have to check with a reputable local repair shop if my scanner couldn't pinpoint the problem AND the manual couldn't walk me through the problem.
