Hey Gothamist, Whats the scoop on your rear bumper?Sc00ter 08-28-2001, 01:32 AM Did you have it made? Is it in production? Whats the specs? Thanks, gothamist 08-28-2001, 10:54 AM It's a KMA (Kennesaw Mountain Accessories.) It actually was put together pretty well from the start, but I did have the usual KMA difficulties...no plate on the top of it, they forgot the license plate bracket, etc. On the plus side, it only cost me $160 shipped. :) It has the KMA design, 3/16" sheet metal bent around a 1/4" wall 2x4 that spans the frame rails, and 1/4" 2x3 tha runs into the frame rails. I was just up at the EOE shop, and Todd finished cutting the mounts off and putting on new, longer ones (that actually make it to the boxed portion of the frame) so it would align to the body w/ the body lift. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of that, but here are two pics from right when I got it (I painted it grey to match the trim a while after I got it.) Christ, my truck looks low in these pics... http://www.4x4lo.com/mods/kma_sideshot.jpg http://www.4x4lo.com/mods/kma_backshot.jpg I've said it before, I'll say it again...if someone were to start producing these with good build quality and some semblance of customer service, they would probably sell really well. Just don't buy one from KMA... rrdstarr 08-28-2001, 03:27 PM So Goth you must have got one without the tire carrier? Is that correct? gothamist 08-28-2001, 04:04 PM KMA rear bumper w/ no tire carrier... ScottG 08-28-2001, 04:14 PM Originally posted by gothamist KMA rear bumper w/ no tire carrier... Can you still fit your tire under the truck with that bumper? I would like to have a heavy duty bumper, but still be able to put the spare tire under the truck. gothamist 08-28-2001, 05:58 PM Honestly, I have no idea...I haven't had my spare tire underneath in a LONG time. Even if my spare SSR would fit up in there, it would probably be touching the exhaust pipe, which would be a bad thing... I remember talking about this with someone long ago, right when Synchro first got his KMA...not sure what we decided, though. Sorry I can't help you...I do know you lose an inch or two of space, about what you do w/ the Nissan hitch methinks. So maybe say a normal 32 is a VERY tight fit, 31's will fit okay, and 32+ sized tires (like 32" SSRs) won't fit at all. ChuckH 08-28-2001, 06:36 PM Of course even if it does fit, it's going to be a PITA to access the tire lift thingy through that bumper! :D Frankly, I'd be surprised if even a stock tire fits. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
