I am new to this post and was just looking for some opinions on what i should do. I have a 96 200sx se, a very slow car off the line. i cant decide if i should try to upgrade the motor or go with suspension work. i have done enouph research on the sr20det to make my head spin and i know what its capable of. i also know that with about the same money as the motor i could pass cars up on a autocross track. should i go for the 1/4 mile or have some fun beating my friends BMW M3 on a track?:confused:

Your best bet is to buy a 240sx(similar to my 200sx-Aussie), but you will need to remove the 240 boat anchor & fit a sr20det. If you want to beat a m3 around a track your 200 will not do. Two reasons, first traction(FWD) and reason two is understeer(losing front wheel traction while cornering). The real 200sx/silvia has multilink rear end 4 spot calipers(not sure about 240) and a all alloy engine sitting futher behind the front struts. Belive me it is easy to kick a m3's (310hp) around a track without spending too much. For your 200sexr, you will need to find the front wheel sr20det and a 4wd(pulsar gtir) system to suit, then dial out the understeer the 4wd pulsars really suffer.
