1998 Caravan stalls/rough idle; Catalytic Converter?JonEB 10-11-2006, 11:20 AM I have a Dodge Caravan with 180,000 miles on it. I replaced the in-tank fuel pump and the coil pack after it stalled the first and second time on the freeway and wouldn't start. That worked fine for a while. After driving and warm up, it stalled again on the freeway and wouldn't start. Later that night after towing home again and the engine cooling off, it started but ran really rough. I checked the fuel rail valve and air came out, not fuel... (I do have an exhaust leak at the pipe to manifold connection.) While barely idling roughly, I put my hand over the tail pipe and was able to completely cover it and the leak at the gasket got louder and the engine continued to idle roughly. Is my Catalytic Convertor gone bad? The check engine light does not come on and I tried a new fuel pump relay. PLEASE HELP! 10/30/06: Just pulled the fuel pump and turn the key, the pump ran for 2 seconds and cut off. Kragen here I come for a replacement... JonEB mustangmike351c 10-11-2006, 09:28 PM where did you get the pump? had the same thing happen after putting in an advanced auto parts pump the fuel sending unit was bad. at 1/4 it would be empty. sometimes if I moved the van it would start and run for a little while JonEB 10-31-2006, 12:02 AM Let see, new catalytic, new crossover pipe, new coil, new bad fuel pump.... Dodge should be ashamed of themselves for not responding to all of these problems that people are having. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
