DSM3D Update!!david-b 10-11-2006, 01:13 AM Yes Sir that's right!! DSM3D update!! I know you all probably thought I forgot about it, but that's not true. It was on hold for a long time. As someone else said in another thread, we all have lives outside of AF and DSMs. I've been trying to get DSM3D able to actually view the real 3D models with features such as rotation, zoom, and panning. However, that was over my head. All the code I wrote bogged down any computer it touched. It was dirty code that didn't work right. DSM3D was supposed to be a small, lite program that can run on any computer with ease. With the OpenGL and DirectX support I was working into it, it became unstable and unsupported without the right drivers and software already installed. Not cool. So in the time off, I've been trying and working with other methods, programming languages, and graphical ways to be the best and only program of it's kind. I discovered Flash, PHP, MYSQL, CSS, and XML. So, I am now working on making DSM3D the program into a total web-based application. All models will be exported in Flash with full movable support and part selection. In basic terms, the user will be able to view the complete model of the engine, select parts, zoom in on them, get information about everything, and more from their internet browser. I've been playing around with this idea and wouldn't be posting if I wasn't excited about it. It will take some time, of course, but I think everyone here will like it even better than the original DSM3D. DSM3D will only be available to registered users of the site that will be designed for it. This will give people more control and also stops "outsiders" from doing damaged. More information on this will be posted as it gets going. Of course you guys will see the work in progress. When all is said and done, all DSMers will have a quick easy reference to their 420a and 4g63 engine and more! NOFX0617 10-11-2006, 01:32 AM Awesome man...I took some programming classes in college....it was tight....very very tedious but the satisfaction you get when you are done is awesome.....Keep up the good work man :bigthumb: oh and get a GSX or a TSI AWD so we can get the 4G63 faster....lol just playin man.... Shpyder 10-11-2006, 04:25 AM That's great David! Keep us posted on everything, can't wait to see the final product(s). Blackcrow64 10-11-2006, 05:51 AM That is a good idea. Did you know that 3dsmax has a built in generator to export 3d layouts to flash? I never gave it any thought before but my one friend did it so you could stand in the middle of a "room" and move the camera any direction, zoom in/out, etc. It was absolutly beautiful. I'll have to find out more about it from him for you. Thor06 10-11-2006, 10:05 AM Yeah man, thats tight. Is this the 420a version or 4g63 you are working on first? david-b 10-11-2006, 11:25 AM Since I have the 420a model totally completed, that will get ported over first. Also makes it easier to work with final and complete models. However, the 4g63 will be right behind it since that model is close to done. I still have to get all the details down and everything finalized before I start the actual application. I will keep you guys updated as this goes along. Screen shots and trial apps will be available when they become ready. l_eclipse_l 10-11-2006, 12:15 PM I thought the original was pretty damn sweet itself, but this sounds like a huge improvement. vanilla gorilla 10-13-2006, 09:39 PM Cool. Now you just got to do the 4G64 and you'll be good to go. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
