Motor blow out or not

I have 1998 JIMY
I wase driving jesterday from chicago to detroit on 94 east
Abaut 98 miles from Detroit check engine lite come on, and engine going to die
I wase smell oil and before i stoped i hear noise under the hood.
I comin aut and open the hood and engine wase very hat
I pool out the sticker oil check. and from there wase coming out smoke.
I start engine again and wase more noise like broken pices or something.
After minut motor die and coming hat
I start again and wase very hard to start
I check oil presure and wase on the 5 on the end
Like this i driving to the exit, and ask mehanik and he told my i need new engine.

I think mechanic was telling you the truth sounds like something has come loose.

Did the oil cooler line blow under the engine (runs to radiator) - look for the oil all over underneath - if so and you drove for awhile bad news. If not, add oil and try starting again and see if noisy still - if it ran really low on oil the lifters may be gummed up and if lucky you did not wreak the bearings.

That is what happened on my '95! Oil line FELL off going to filter (crimped line), by the time I realized what was going on - 3 thrown rods along with holes in oil pan = engine D.O.A. $5K later, new engine & I monitor ALL of the guages like an airline pilot, especially if you EVER see the "check guages" light pop on. Sounds like your in for a new or rebuilt engine... :(
