My '00 van occasionally changes shift mode, to a very hard shift, and an accompanying whine (even in neutral), that sounds like a power steering pump that's low on fluid. I can pull over, stop, re-start, and it goes away, sometimes taking a second re-start.
I'm guessin' a solenoid that controls shifting is failing. It has to be electrical, since it can be 're-set'.
Anybody with other ideas on this one?
Ever do a solenoid swap?

I read that LUBEGARD® ATF PROTECTANT http://www.lubegard.com/automotive/trans_atf.html
may unstuck a faulty PCS.
