quick questionpartshunter18 10-05-2006, 09:04 PM What keeps my car from exceeding 85mph? I apologize for asking stupid questions but I just don't understand these newer cars. 1thunder 10-05-2006, 10:06 PM this is controlled by the computor and it does this by shutting down the injectors at this speed partshunter18 10-05-2006, 10:17 PM so what can I do the bypass the computer telling the injectors when to shut off neon_rt 10-06-2006, 12:08 PM You can get Mopar Performance or AF/X aftermarket computers that tune your engine for Premium Fuel, increase power and...remove the top speed limiter. Most first gen Neons are factory programmed for 118mph, the R/T and ACR are set for 128mph, some ACR's don't have a top speed limiter. There is a mod that you can do to the speed sensor to indicate 1/2 speed, but I would not recommend it. partshunter18 10-06-2006, 04:15 PM How much will that cost and will there be any sacrifices to the car? das2123 10-06-2006, 05:18 PM Only the 95 ACR doesn't have the speed limiter. Even the stock neons should get to 100mph. What year is your neon? partshunter18 10-06-2006, 08:20 PM It's a '95 Sport SOHC 2.0 and I've even floored it going downhill :wtf: it's pathetic. Even worse it's a 3-speed auto because the guy I bought it off of could'nt drive a stick so he bought the trans that's in it now because he messed up the other one which was automatic. das2123 10-07-2006, 03:49 PM Is the CEL on? partshunter18 10-07-2006, 04:38 PM CEL??? :dunno: Sorry I'm ignorant of all cars but doing simple oil change, tune-up, brakes and tires. I'm lucky to know where the fuel pump is let alone anything else. Is there a way to do something about this that won't cost a whole lot of money?? :sorry: This is my first car. das2123 10-08-2006, 12:58 PM Your check engine light. It should come on when you turn the ignition on and then go away if you don't have any codes. If it stays on, then you have codes stored. Check the 1st gen FAQ's on how to retrieve them. skatendestroy 10-08-2006, 01:38 PM lol even my 95 base automatic has gotten me up to 110 you must be having some car troubles even for an automatic she boogies vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
