1991 Dodge Dynasty Speedometer Intermitently goes OutUncle1957 10-02-2006, 11:34 AM Hi All: I have 1991 Dodge Dynasty. The Speedometer intermitently quits working. It is off more often that not but will jump to life and stay for a couple hundred miles then cut out again. Any idea on where to even start with this one. Thanks Gord 1thunder 10-02-2006, 08:36 PM try tapping the top of the dash if that doesn't help check fault codes if cide 15 is there replace the speed sensor on the trans above the right axle housing Uncle1957 10-03-2006, 04:31 PM try tapping the top of the dash if that doesn't help check fault codes if cide 15 is there replace the speed sensor on the trans above the right axle housing Yes tapping on dash if it is strobing on and off does help it... How do I check the fault code? This is a new car for me. Sat for 2 years on a dealers back lot, after having been B & E'd has taken weeks for many of the electronic components to settle in. Speedometer and Odometer are the last hold outs. Thanks Gord 1thunder 10-03-2006, 08:54 PM if tapping on the dash gets the speedo working then generally the speedo head is faulty to check codes cycle key on and off three times ending in the on position and count the check engine lamp flash dont count the first bulb on as this is a bulb check if lamp flashes 2 times and briefly pauses then flashes 2 more times this would be code 22 at the end of the flash codes there should be 5 flashes then 5 more flashes ending in 55 end of test you are looking for code 15 good luck Uncle1957 10-09-2006, 10:20 AM Thanks for the info. Is it normal for the oil pressure gauge to be be below the low occasionally for stop and go driving? Once on open road it rises well above the low reading. I had a 89 dodge spirit that had the same problem. They have them here at this site for $30. Good luck. http://www.1aauto.com/1A/SpeedSensor/Dodge/Dynasty vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
