Unmovable lower alternator pivot bolt.yale329 10-02-2006, 02:50 AM I have had a lot of tough bolts to remove, and removed most all of my sons front end this summer , with power tools, and lots of penitrating oil and a sand blaster. Back to the topic. I added distilled water at the time to the battery, charged it at two amps for about 16 hours. Now the battery light comes on, with lights on, but goes out when revs are up. Battery, about 13.4 volts, alternator anywhere from 13.6 to 15.4 . So I figure it is a bad regulator??. All bolts came off easy, except for the lower pivot bolt. This bolt is a metric 15 with a welded nut on one end. Tried a jhonson bar, impack, gave up for he needed the car last night? I am ordering in the bolt , sleeve and welded end nut, but before I grind it off, or break it?. Is it threaded right through the sleeve. Thanks if you reply, Wayne Wayne 1thunder 10-02-2006, 08:11 PM no it's not threaded through the sleeve but it witt feel that way as it packs with rust at times just remove the 3 bolts holding the lower bracket to the block and pry it down enough to remove the alt then heat the sleeve to remove the bolt then your back on track to completion skatendestroy 10-02-2006, 10:29 PM ughhh i loathe any alternator work on a neon !!! they made it so difficult just to get to the belt tentioner for it thank got i dont have air conditioning or powersteering as then it would be even more of a pain in the ass but no the are no threads that hold inside of the alt theres just a nut on the oposite side yale329 10-03-2006, 05:52 AM Thanks, I'll try it. Just waiting for a new bolt and nut. Still can't believe a good long half inch drive bar didn't break it. Wayne yale329 10-04-2006, 08:47 AM Thanks, I'll try it. Just waiting for a new bolt and nut.
