Hi TOMLIZ100

I have exately the same problem on my Laguna II, 1.6. 2001
Have you solved the problem, if yes, how.
The aut. Renault garage told me to change the whole innstrument ( aproxx 1000£)
I doubt it would help, because also the display for tire pressure is wrong, I suspect a relay failure.

If you wish you can answer me on my private E-mail here i Denmark :

Hi James,

This seems to be a common problem on the 2001 Laguna but seems to have been solved on later models.

It normally occurs when the car is first started in very low temperatures - something you probably get in Denmark in the winter.

You can reset the panel by removing either the first (left hand) fuse in the engine bay behind the battery which will reset the entire vehicle computer including the stereo (make sure you have the code) and the electric windows. The vehicle manual details this fuse under the section called "emergency engine stop" and also shows how to reset the electric windows after you remove the fuse.

You can also remove either the 5th or 6th fuse (I forget which one but you can find it by trial and error) which will just reset the instrument panel without effecting either the radio or the windows.

I'm afraid that there doesn't appear to be a cheap fix to this problem, just an expensive one from your local Renault dealer.

Hope this helps.
