How Can I get more out of my 92X Aerojharper 09-30-2006, 01:28 PM So I have a Saab 92x aero and the lease is up in 2 mo. I like a lot about the car but the one thing that kills me is the delay from flooring the pedal to lift-off. Some of the delay has to do with the automatic trans but I also noticed this on the manual version. I thought I could get over it but I couldn't. If I can solve this problem I keep the car. If not, I'll have to get something else. Any suggestions as to what I can do to my 92x do what I want? freakray 09-30-2006, 03:58 PM What you're experiencing is turbo lag, the only way you can get around that is to install a smaller turbo in which case you lose top end boost. You could get a manual boost controller which will help you some and consider and AP, but turbo lag is an inherent part of having a turbo. jharper 09-30-2006, 06:03 PM I understand what turbo lag is but this seems to be different, almost as if it is not dumping enough gas to the cylinders. In any case, I know that there are a lot of WRX fans who like making after market modifications and I thought they might have some suggestions. freakray 09-30-2006, 08:15 PM Does the car seem slow until you get up around 2500 to 3000 rpm? jharper 09-30-2006, 11:36 PM yes, but that is the point, it's lawn mower slow til the turbo kicks in. But not just because the engine is weak without the turbo, it seems like there is a hesitation. From stop to 3000 rpm which is about where the turbo kicks in is about 4s - probably a touch less. Does that seem right? 2turboimports 09-30-2006, 11:37 PM I've heard a few things about electronic throttle bodies, mostly ppl claiming the car isn't as responsive gas wise as the 'fly by wire' type. I've never really noticed anything especially annoying, but then the only car I have w/ the electronic TB hasnt been driven the same way I drive my scooby. But that's probably just over-sensitive subaru owners for you. ;) Like freakray said, it's probably just turbo lag, maybe a bit exacerbated by slightly dirty something or other, changes in humidity, whatever. I'm assuming youve had the car for awhile if the lease is up in 2 months, so maybe it just needs a tuneup? Just read your reply lol. There's no way even if the turbo was off your car completely it should be that slow. Or maybe it really needs that tuneup lol. SabreKhan 10-02-2006, 08:08 PM Try rolling into the throttle rather than just punching it. The gas dump when you floor it actually slows it down when you're turbo-lagging. Also, holding the brake and giving it throttle may take care of a little bit of the lag (however, this operation is probably not legal under your lease... but probably neither is a turbo swap). Bigmikelv 10-11-2006, 03:51 AM What you need to do is go Catless and reflash. you will see quite a difference. Also a ProTorque Torque converter will get rid of any lag. The factory 4EAT tranny has a 3200 rpm stall. I've done it a few times with GREAT rewards! jharper 10-17-2006, 06:17 PM ok, good! What do you mean reflash ecu? If it is the computer for the car what do I flash it with? Where can I get this done? Can I go to some Subaru guru and apply it to my SAAB? This is what I was looking for. I think it's a great car, it just needs some tuning. Bigmikelv 10-18-2006, 06:45 PM ok, good! What do you mean reflash ecu? If it is the computer for the car what do I flash it with?
