1998 Malibu stalling when idolkevinpublic 09-27-2006, 10:23 AM Hi, guys... the guy with the haunted Malibu is back. My car is intermittantly stalling when I'm idolling. It usually happens when I'm stopped, but it's happened once going around a turn (an exit ramp, to be exact). The car stutters like it's not getting gas, then dies. It happens about that quickly. It doesn't happen often and when the car dies, it starts right back up. On occasions, if the engine starts to sputter and I can hit the gas quickly enough, I can prevent it from dying. Does anyone have ANY idea on what I should be looking at for this one? klieu 09-27-2006, 11:29 AM Hi, guys... the guy with the haunted Malibu is back. Also, have you had any problems with a low idle when you are in gear? And if so, is there a solution that you have found? klieu 09-27-2006, 11:44 AM What is a TCC? Also, have you had any problems with a low idle when you are in gear? And if so, is there a solution that you have found? It's a "Torque Converter Clutch" Selenoid, this module control gas by vehicle speed to save gas MalibuBarbie98 09-27-2006, 12:08 PM Thanks for the definition. This might help me as well. kevinpublic 09-27-2006, 01:50 PM What is a TCC? Also, have you had any problems with a low idle when you are in gear? And if so, is there a solution that you have found? I have found that, after the engine has warmed up, I idol at roughly 600 rpm. I also suspect my timing is a little off, from the knocking sound it makes when I'm stopped. kevinpublic 09-27-2006, 02:06 PM Here's another question... recently, my mechanic had to remove, clean, and replace the EGR valve because of a revving problem I was having. Could this problem be because the EGR valve isn't dirty, but faulty? MalibuBarbie98 09-27-2006, 03:16 PM It could be the plastic line that goes to the EGR canister is cracked. I just read this in a thread. It would be worth looking to see if the plastic vacuum lines aren't cracked. I'm going to look into this as well, since I have an idling problem. kevinpublic 09-27-2006, 04:13 PM It could be the plastic line that goes to the EGR canister is cracked. That's an excellent idea. I hope I can find it! I'm not very knowledgeable about cars. I can change a tire, the oil and radiator fluid... that's about it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
