We all know the never ending debate between using 2.5" or 3" pipes in a 3.8L cat back. I thought of using 2.75" pipes, especially when all I really want out of new exhaust is a better sound/tone and some hp (I don't plan on building a 12 sec V6). The only kit I found was one by Edelbrock for the LS1, #5772.

I was just wondering if this would be a good idea, if it will work, or what any problems might be such as compatability w/ cat converters? Any info would be appreciated, Thanks.

Edit: If this is a bad idea, how/where might I be able to get some 2.75" piping to fabricate my own/pay somebody to do it for me 'cause I suck?

Any exhaust shop should be able to fab you up a 2.75" system. I don't see any problems with using that size. Even if you have a 3" outlet converter, all they would have to do is use weld on a size reducer. I've thought about using that size, but I just said to hell with it and went 3".
