O2 sensors??

Ok i had an acceleration problem previously (starting in second gear) and i replaced the VSS and it start in first now. How ever it does have sluggish acceleration and not much power it seems. It has a new exaust and one of the O2 sensors needs to be put on still (drill hole and weld a nut on). Would this cause sluggish acceleration / low power? Also how many O2 sensors should it have so i make sure it has them all? 94 S10 Blazer 2wd auto..... and yes my SES light is on (probably becuase of this).

Thanks,
Steve

there should be 2 sensors. a bad O2 would hinder performance, in most cases making the engine overly rich. This is probably set off your SES light. get the code out of the computer and that will tell you what to fix. also if you have 4.3 with CPI, check to make sure that none of those components are leaking, which would cause similar symptoms.

I would get that o2 on there asap. My buddy put a highflow cat and a flowmaster on a dakota r/t and it only had 1 of 4 o2 sensors on. the truck was just dumping fuel in the engine, he ended up frying his whole exhaust,(cat and muffler were glowing hot) and he put a big hurtin on the engine and tranny im sure

so where are they located? so i know where to look to make sure it has the other one too.

Also, where is the EGR valve located. I wanna clean that.

I am pretty sure there is only one on pre '95 trucks, its a heated sensor, just before the cat. There is no post cat sensor.

Maybe it would be a good thing to say that what I told you do in the last thread about the VSS worked so people can gain some knowledge from it.

Kinda rude to accept the advice and just move on without even a thank you or allowing people to see that it worked.

So there is only one o2 sensor? Hopefully becuase thats all that he gave me with the truck. and you said it right before the cat?

actually i was gonna update and tell people that it worked, but i just want to make SURE it worked. Because im still having acceleration problems but (it seems) like it may possibly be starting in first gear now.

would a bad o2 sensor make ur mpg drop signifigantly, somewhere around maybe 8mpg?

If you have a 1992-1995 Blazer it will be something else to cause that kind of a drop.

Ever done a tuneup?

Also, is your engine temperature getting up to near the middle mark on the gauge?

Also, how are you calculating your economy.

yes i have done a tune up receiently, my temp bounces between the 150 and the 200 mark. it stays at 150 mostly, it will slowly climb to 200, then drop back to 150 fast. and incase you didnt see the thread i started " loads of blazer problems" my blazer sank in a pond when we were offroading, past the hood, and past the dashboard

well, first thing would be to change the thermostat. It is running too cold.

really? i didnt think there was such a thing as running to cold. ok after i change my thermostat where to i head to from there. do those gas savers actually work? like the tornado, and how bout acetone. i saw you posting on it before. and theres a black box under the pannel under the dashboard on the drivers side, where u plug ur scanner tool in. it was making an extrememyl loud buzzing after it flooded, so i unpluged it in hope of getting a second one, but never got around to it, and its still unplugged. would that have anything to do with it?

Yes, if the engine is cold the computer tries to put in more fuel to try to get the engine warmed up. This can lead to huge losses in fuel economy.

Connect everything up. And don't worry about fuel savers right now.

that damn black box keeps buzzing. so i left it unplugged for now, its something like " remote actuation module" no clue what that is, and ideas?
