battery disconected -Sequence to get past anti-theft ryman 09-21-2006, 11:11 AM
Does anybody know what the sequence is to reset after the battery has been disconected for a period of time, in order to get around the anti-thetf system. It is for a 2000 Cavalier. I called multiple dealers, one said 10-10-10, one said 1 hr-1hr, one said, 30min-30min, and still none seem to work. Derk_eliso 09-21-2006, 12:07 PM i read somwhere when this guy went to install a different cluster in his car he had to get around his anti-theft system...and this is what he did. You have to get out and dis-connect the battery for 10 mins. Once you do this plug it back in. Now you have to follow the next step perfectly. You get in the car and make sure everything is off. Once you get in wait for the dome light and everything to go off. There can't be anything at all on. Once everything is off you try and start the car again, once again it will start and stall. Leave the car in the run possition. Now, you cant do anything, you have to make sure you dont turn anything on or even open the door. Everything has to remain off. You have to wait for the theft light to stop blinking. I actually already had the window open and i climbed out of the car for 20mins. If you climbed out remember to climb back in not to open the door because the dome light will come on. So after 10-15mins and the light isnt blinking, you try again and this time it will start. Cavalier2000 09-21-2006, 01:02 PM that sounds completely wierd, i hope it works Derk_eliso 09-21-2006, 01:02 PM me too.
