Not to be a killjoy, but I thought we were generally above those sorts of things in here. :uhoh:

I'm sure we don't have a complete list and I may even forget one or two we know about, but best guesses are:

USA, UK, Japan, Germany, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Brunei, Bahrain, Costa Rica and South Africa.

I'm not aware of any in the Netherlands at the moment, but that doesn't mean there are not any hiding there.

OK, playtime's over, though I thought the "All your bases are belong to us" was just hilarious.

That's a pretty good list, Peloton. You left out UAE...there's a silver/grey one there that belongs to the bin Sulayem rally racer fellow. Other than that, it looks complete to me.

I have arranged it alphabetically by continent and put in some rough numbers off the top of my head. Would you mind putting in or correcting the known numbers next to the countries and then the total known for each continent? Providing data on the chassis types in each location would be even cooler, if you don't mind.

Europe 15
UK 4
France 2
Germany 5
Sweden 2
Switzerland 2

North America 18
Canada 1
USA 16
Costa Rica 1

Australia 2
Australia 2

Asia and Middle East 12
Bahrain 1
Brunei 6
Japan 3
Singapore 1
UAE 1

Africa 1
South Africa 1

There was an article in a Swedish magzine about the authurised F1 mechanic

If you wish to keep as much info quiet as possible, pls send me a private mail.

I don't remember where the one in SA is, or who it belongs to, but the info is on this board somewhere. It was a silver one and used to be in Arizona for a while before being shipped there via Amsterdam. There were some pics posted of it, when it was tied up on a shipping pallet at Amsterdam airport. I believe the owner had a business restoring old cars.

I don't think anyone outside the factory knows the location of all of the McLaren F1s. In the enthusiast community, the most complete information is to be found on this board, but it's still an incomplete list. Which kind of makes it fun, woudln't you agree?

Are you sure Bin Sulayem owns one? i know he has some great cars and ive seen all the photos that float around on the net of his garage/collection but ive never heard, read, or seen that he has an f1.
Im not questioning your claim just your sources.Though i did always wonder why he doesnt / didnt have one.

Honestly, I stopped following this stuff too closely a while ago. And yeah, I have seen pics of his garages with all the exotics...I thought the McLaren was in one of the pics, but now I don't remember. I was pretty sure that he was one of the known owners. Peloton? Mini magic? Anyone else?

I doubt it. I removed that entry from Wikipedia. Anyone else hear it?

Thx Beamerman :)

Beemers are the bikes, bimmers are the cars ;)

Never heard of Kim Jung Ill having one. I very much doubt it. He's into luxo barges and has a fleet of Mercs (S-classes and Pullmans, but not Maybachs).

I did hear that there was one belonging to the son of the owner of Samsung or Hyundai or some equally big South Korean company. The source mentioned the central driving position, so it sounded somewhat credible, and he said it had a roll-cage, which would make it a GTR (or any number of racing cars with a central driving position). He never got to see it, and I don't know if it's true. I am thinking the likelihood of this being true is around 10%.

Anyone else hear of one in South Korea?

 at the technicalities. I prefer Beemer for them all because it was the nickname given to BMW first, albeit the cycles, they were still BMW. McLaren F1 has a Beemer engine :D IMO, Bimmer has always sounded :screwy: Of course I will always prefer to say Bayerische Motoren Werke.

Yeah, I never understood the spelling with the i...that would rhyme with simmer or dimmer if it was pronounced right, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Beemer...always, at least for me. :)

There is only 1 F1 in Australia. It was bought new by Dean Wills, who was the head of Coca-Cola here. He got a multi mega million dollar payout when he left the company. The car was silver when new but was badly crashed by a mechanic from BMW of Sydney while on a 'road test'. The car was sent back to Woking for a rebuild and is now a dark gray/titanium colour with matching wheels. It is now with a different owner. Dean Wills is a bit of a car nut, as at October '06 his collection includes a Rolls Phantom, an SL65, a 612 Scalgietti which is about to be replaced by a 599GTB, a Murcielago and a few other pieces of exotica which I can't remember at the moment.

Could that possibly be the F1 that was crashed by a BMW employee in that one very grizzly photo of an F1 in shards? The one we thought was XP3 for a while?

He sold the car in the beginning of 2005 to Tony Raftis of Maranello Motorsports. Tony had the wheels repainted the normal silver color. He kept the car for about 8 months and then sold it to Barry Fitzgerald who should still have it now.

Dean Wills is a bit of a car nut...

You can say that again. Here's a satellite view of what some claim is his own private race circuit. Talk about cool.

No this is the crash photo of Wills' #009:

You are thinking of the Bernd Pischetsrieder crash photo seen below, which I have decided is either #006, #010, #013 or #033 for those keeping track.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/Peloton25/McLaren%20F1%20C/fe091363.jpg

Would be kind of funny if it ended up being #013.

10/29/06 Edit: It isn't #013, as that car is confirmed as the silver w/red stripe F1 in Japan.

4/12/07 Edit: It isn't #033, as that car is now confirmed as the one with the unique red interior seen at the factory.

Outstanding work on your reply. It's somehow nice to know all this stuff. I believe Dean Wills' circuit is in the Peats Ridge area, north of Sydney?

Peloton25

These are the additional details on the track:

"My dad was telling me about a track in the middle of nowhere that he sees as he is flying out of Mudgee. It is west of Wyong, just south of Kulnura. All I have found out about it is that the owner uses it to exercise his Mclaren F1."

"Kulnura is probably about 20km's north west of Gosford. So probably just over an hour out of Sydney."

"http://www.zoomin.com.au/australia/nsw/kulnura/ Follow George Downes Drive from Kulnura(south) about 2km down to the right you can see the track on the map(may need to zoom in once). Its off Barnes Rd."

"Just measure it, roughly 4.8km's of tarmac, with one 580m, and one 490m straights. Paradise!"

Here's a higher resolution version of the overhead track photo. I did a quick 'Auto Contrast' in Photoshop when I was done piecing it together. This file is ~500MB so be patient on a slow connection.

Considering the owner of the track no longer owns the F1, it could be a very, very long time. ;)

I hear the track's current "top dog" is an Enzo, but even that could have changed by now.

Anyway, I really wouldn't recommend heading out there uninvited. That seems a bit innapropriate.
