You might try posting this in the Blazer forum which seems to be a much more active board. I'll be interested in seeing the replies as I'm having the same exact problem with my 2000 S-10 Blazer 4wd. Since it's overdue for new plugs/cap/rotor/fuel filter, I am planning to tackle that first to see if it solves the problem before digging deeper.

pretty normal, the a/c clutch is engaging and it really puts a lot of drag on the engine. If it is really bad, it could be a sign of the clutch going bad too. If you notice a bigger drag than usual, and if you did a tune up, and the engine is running good, take a close look at the compressor.

I have the same noticeable and seemingly excessive loss of power on my 2000 S-10 Blazer which I'm hoping a planned tune up will help. Years ago cars had an A/C cut-off switch that basically disengaged the A/C compressor any time you floored the gas pedal. This came in especially handy starting off the line and passing on highways. My Blazer's A/C compressor does not seem to have this feature and does not disengage when I floor it -- does anyone know if it is supposed to?

Try running the AC in Norm cause MAX keeps the clutch on for more air and see if that helps - if not then as stated have AC looked at.
