1997 chevy 4 X 4 1500 5.7 Wont Start Need Help! Rebel Racing 3 09-19-2006, 12:09 PM
Ok here is the deal. Fuel pump went out on the truck so I replaced it and before we got the tank all the way back into the truck I tried starting to make sure i had it all hooked up right, well it started so I shut it off real quick and finished putting the tank the rest of the way up. Then after that was all done I tried starting the truck agian and it started and ran a few then stalled. Now i can crank on it and nothing until after i stop trying to start it but with the key still in the on postion it will like burp or somthing??? almost run back wards...I tried the cam postion sensor and nothing somone told me crank postion sensor? any ideas would be a big help Thanks Rebel Racing 3 09-19-2006, 12:11 PM O yeah and if i let it sit all night and come the next morning with will ether start or come damn close to starting?? aaamillertime 09-19-2006, 12:36 PM This may be a long shot, but I had the same exact problem on my 97 silverado. After I replaced the fuel pump and then other typical tune up parts because the fuel pump didn't do it. I called the manufacturerer of the fuel pump. They verified that the auto part store had sold me the wron pump. Looked and fit just like the one I took out. The only problem is they sold me the Mexico version. Which doesn't have enough pressure. As soon as I put the right one in she fired right up. It's worth a call if you don't have enough fuel pressure. horse482 09-19-2006, 04:36 PM Have you checked for good power and ground at the pump. If you don't have any power or low power check the transmission cross member, had a guy bring me a chev p/u with the same problem, the tranny shop set the crossmember on the power wire, it finally wore through and the pump stoped working. If that is not the case check the fuel pump relay. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
