Recently encountered trouble with olds. Died while goin down road and would not refire. Towed back home replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter. Checked fuel flow while filter was off and pump was sending fuel. Still wouldn't start, turns over but wouldn't start. Opened intake and poured small amount of gas in and it started till gas was consumed.:banghead: . Thinking maybe pump isn't pumping enough. Injectors bad? Looking for guidance, any response would be much obliged. It has 195,000 miles and I still want to keep it as much as it pains me.

Can you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the keyswitch on?
If not, check your fuse and fuel pump relay.
If you can hear it running, you'll need to check your fuel pressure with the fuel pressure port w/black cap on, on the top of your intake manifold. Take the cap off and you'll see a test port called a Schrader Valve. The fuel pressure test kit at your local auto parts store costs around $40...about the same price to have a shop check it.

pump runs with key on but does not spray a heavy stream. I hear that vortec is high pressure. I guess I'm droppin the tank and 350$ into a pump. Thanks a lot for your help, I will definitely check the fuse before I buy the pump, and checkin the pressure at the intake.

You need to get a fuel pressure gauge on it to test it out first.

Hard to start cold.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak.
Post back fuel pressure readings.
