Well that was a short honeymoonrstackjd 09-14-2006, 04:23 PM :shakehead Rear tailgate doesn't want to open. The window opens, but when you pull the lever to drop the gate it doesnt' feel like its catching inside the door. How do I (can I?) remove the tail gate interior panel to take a look inside - I suspect something has become disconnected. And so it begins (BTW - 2000 Blazer 4X4, 2dr, automatic - if it makes a difference) Thanks  sreve 09-14-2006, 06:21 PM getting the panel off i easy after the gate is open 4 screws on the side one by the latch. if you figure out how to get it off w\o tearing it up let me know how. more than likely it's a broken clip. if you can pull it back far enough to see what's going on you may be able to snag it with a coat hanger. alblogg 09-14-2006, 08:42 PM :shakehead Rear tailgate doesn't want to open. On my '99 you have to hit the unlock button on the remote twice to unlock the other doors and the rear door, to prevent carjacking. My son was about to tear into mine one day because he thought he had broke off a clip or something and wanted to fix it before I got back, good thing I wasn't gone to long. rstackjd 09-14-2006, 11:28 PM Not trying to put you down or anything but is it unlocked? No offense taken at all - I love an easy fix as well as anyone. I'll give that a try - you never know. Thanks mike2004tct 09-15-2006, 01:15 PM Because it's a 2 door and the glass opens, it's most likely not the lock, but probably a disconnected rod on the latch mechanism for the lower hatch. The body style is the same as a '97, so take a look at this thread. You should be able to remove the lower panel from the inside to get a look at the rod mechanism. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=221567&highlight=rear+hatch+won%27t+open rstackjd 09-15-2006, 01:41 PM Because it's a 2 door and the glass opens, it's most likely not the lock, but probably a disconnected rod on the latch mechanism for the lower hatch.
